The only thing that sounds worse than being sent to boarding school is being quarantined at one after an outbreak causes the CDC and DoD to prohibit any students or teachers from leaving. The only contact with the outside world is through radio communication - no phone, no internet. No one can leave school grounds, save for the boat crew responsible for retrieving supplies. What's so terrifying about this book is that an outbreak like this is totally plausible.

Powers' writing style quickly weaves a chilling story of friendship and survival as students and teachers learn to take care of one another after society has left them utterly isolated. Will the girls of Raxter find out what caused this outbreak? More importantly, will they find the cure they so desperately need?
