I really enjoyed this sapphic feminist horror novel inspired by Lord of the Flies, but I know it is also the kind of book that isn't going to be for everyone. It leaves a lot open for interpretation, which might not work great for readers who like having everything explained. I tend to like open-ended things and enjoy when something is left ambiguous as long as it's done thoughtfully, which I believe Rory Power accomplished.

Wilder Girls depicts girls who are allowed to be messy and ugly, which is quite honestly refreshing. This book feels like a YA version of 'Annihilation' but better, and I think readers who enjoyed those books will like this one as well.

As a teen services librarian, I recommend this one to readers looking for horror but who want something a bit different than your traditional haunted house novels. This one is a unique spooky read!
