Eighteen months ago, the Raxter School for Girls went into quarantine. A disease called the tox, has slowly but surely killed many of the girls and the teachers at the facility. Some of the girls have lived through the disease but are disfigured one way or another. As for the teachers, most of them died first and left the girls living upst and wondering when and if they will make it through.

They live on an island surrounded by water, and supplies are left for them by the Navy. They are not allowed outside the gate because the woods surrounding them is filled with wild animals, tox, and other things.

This story was very suspenseful and had a good plot. The characters were all well described and it is heartbreaking to read about what is happening to them, one by one. There is definitely a psychological feeling to this book and a feeling of horror as well. I was enthralled by this book and want to read more by this author!

I don't want to say more so I won't ruin the plot! I gave this psychologically spell binding and unputdownable novel 5 stars!
