I read this book because it was all the talk of the internet when it first came out. Everyone was raving about it, and let's be honest, I'm a total sucker for a great cover and this one is perfection. It's beautiful and chilling and makes you feel slightly uncomfortable which also happens to be exactly how this book will make you feel as well.

The story chronicles a group of girls living at a boarding school on an island which has been overtaken by a virus which mutates each of them into something...different. Something not quite human. It's gory and creepy but it also very heavily focuses on what happens to groups of people when society begins to break down. Who will lead? Who will do what's needed for the betterment of the group?

The only downside to this book is that the ending is a terrible cliffhanger and it's not really known if this story will continue in another book.
