I read this awhile ago but am just getting around to writing my review. I love reading dual timelines when done well and this one was definitely done well. This was my first historical fiction set during 1920s jazz era. This book was researched well but the author did not overwhelm with details which I love. The book is so well written. This is a very strong debut.
I will be honest and say that I enjoyed the past sections way more than the present. I think this book would have been just as great if it was just a historical with no current timeline. I cared more for some characters than others but normal. Be warned…there could be lots of triggers for some people and you should research. I felt completely immersed when reading the 1920s sections.
I would definitely read another book by this author and I recommend this book to historical fiction lovers.
