I read this book months ago, and when I finished I couldn't find the words to describe the story and what it made me feel. It's a powerful story and I've found myself randomly reminiscing about bits and pieces.

Denny S. Bryce's writing is masterful and she tells a story that unfolds in two timelines, one in the present and the other in the Roaring 1920s. It's raw and painful, but also hopeful. I love her level of detail in the storytelling, not knowing much about this period, you can see the effort put into the research. I loved learning about a part of the Jazz age I hadn't been exposed to before.

I found myself hooked to the story, and unable to put it down. Parts were hard for me to read, but such is human nature and there is always ugliness along with beauty. However I truly adored Honoree as a heroine. She's flawed as well, but strong and resilient.

I am very impressed with Denny S. Bryce. I can not wait to see what other marvels she writes for us to read.
