I read Wild Women and the Blues for my in real life book club meeting. I enjoyed the story but the reviews were definitely mixed within the members of our book club.
Wild Women and the Blues opened my eyes to a few things about race, class, and culture during a time I generally like to read about.
Wild Women and the Blues is told by dual main characters during two different timelines.
In the beginning, I didn't care for the main character in the present day timeline (or modern day really bc it's 2015) but he grew on me. I definitely appreciated the story in the past timeline chapters better than the present timeline story. But I find that is the case of how I feel when I read historical fiction novels told with past and present timelines.
I recommend Wild Women and the Blues by Denny S. Bryce to historical fiction fans who also like a bit of mystery thrown in.
