Wild Women and the Blues is set in Chicago, split between 1925 and 2015...both a world away from 2021. Sawyer, a grad school working on his thesis after the death of his sister, is granted an opportunity to interview a lady named Honoree, who is a dancer and while interviewing, witnessed something she should not have witnessed.

The writing was engaging, and the author is able to take you back to 1925 with vivid imagery and realistic characters. I enjoyed the setting of the Jazz Era and the strong female character, which back in the 1920's, it was not encouraged for women to be strong, independent, and especially African American women in the 1920s.

I enjoyed the dual timeline and the suspense of the novel. I did enjoy how they interacted with each other and surprisingly, even the first person language with Sawyer towards the front of the book. I could easily see this book being made into a series!
