I added this book to my to be read list without much knowledge of what it was about simply because of the cover alone. The cover is beautiful but the book for me didn't hit a home run. I still enjoyed most of the book and did finish it but it will not be something I remember or ponder on for very long.

Wild Women and the Blues is a dual timeline historical fiction novel about Jazz Age Chicago and today with Honoree in a nursing facility and Sawyer interviewing her about her past. There was a lot of jumping around and not a lot of supportive background. The past chapters were much stronger I thought and I didn't care for the present day chapters at all. It slowed the story down for me and made it a struggle to get through. I almost think the book would have been better if it was all in the past and it was the story straight through from Honoree's POV. I will try this author again because I do think she is a good writer.
