I have seen a lot of iffy books here on Bookish first lately, so when I saw this one 0 I grabbed it. I must say that it was nice to finally see a book that held up. Typically I am not a fan of the back and forth between characters, but I loved every minute of this. Honoree is an chorus girl living out her dreams after the man she loved took off without a work. Abandoned by her mother, she's become quite the tough cookie and survivalist. Hanging around with the likes of big names like Al Capone in those speakeasy's, she has learned a thing or two about handling herself.
Modern day Chicago, Sawyer is struggling. With a few things actually. A film student who is on the brink of what he thinks will be the greatest documentary of all time, Sawyer is grieving the loss of his beloved sister. Honoree, now 100 years old, is the ticket to Sawyer's future...but he has to win her over first.
