For some reason over the past year, I have begun to read historical fiction. The intertwining of fiction with history provides for interesting reads.

The cross-over in time brings the story much more life than it might have had if it was a strictly one point of view. Honoree's need to succeed makes the story resonate with a need to be told. Her struggle to survive in Chicago during the Jazz Age requires much sacrifice. Now she is ready to reveal her secrets while the inquisitive film student seeks to hide his. Sawyer Hayes needs Honoree to tell him secrets that will help him with his thesis on Oscar Micheaux. From the 1920s to the 21st century, conflicts arise as Honoree sees the need for her voice to be heard and stories told, even if they are not the ones Sawyer wants to hear or which might possible derail his desire or discover Oscar Micheaux.
