Maya Angelou has been my favorite author since i was 10. I read Caged Bird and had this indescribable feeling the entire time. I get that exact same feeling reading this. I'm admittedly a 33 year old white Texan who knows nothing of what it's like to be black, much less black in the 20's but that's what i love most about Maya Angelou and what I love about the first impression of this novel, that even I, having absolutely no clue what it is like can be transported in to another persons life, their struggles, their dreams, their wants, their trauma etc. Through amazing writing I can visualize, empathize and experience something I would never have known otherwise. Denny S Bryce, if by some miracle you see this, THANK YOU, even if Miss Honorees life is fictional its a story that could have existed & probably existed in some way, that I know i am going to absolutely love with every fiber of my being. I havent felt this way whilst reading a novel in 20 years and i cant wait to cry, scream, bawl, laugh and giggle my way through the entire story.
