I know dual timelines is a common plot device, but this one sets it up perfect in the beginning: a contemporary voice, and then we flashback 90 years. Both Sawyer and Honoree are interesting, complex characters, and the excerpts sets up an exciting story. I also appreciated the dialogue-heavy aspect of Honoree's narrative - it really makes the 1920s come alive!
