Honoree Dalcour may only be a sharecropper’s daughter, but she works hard to dance every night and be on top. Set in the Jazz age in Chicago amidst glamour and fame, but also gambling, gangsters, and whisky Honoree’s ambitious nature may pose a greater risk than she’s willing to take. Years later Honoree's life intersects with Sawyer’s, a young film student researching the famous Oscar Micheaux and hoping to start a new life. The story Honoree tells is not the one he was expecting to hear, but as the truth unravels and the past meets the present she has the chance to be heard.
This sounds like a really fascinating historical fiction debut novel. I would absolutely love to read this. The jazz age is such an interesting period and the coupling with the present makes an intriguing story.
