I found this book to actually be fascinating. This memoir was bold and made bare to all to read, and I just have to give so much credit to this author to tell her story. But this intense story is her life!! The mother and daughter relationship at first seemed typical. And then the mother shares a kiss with another man; not her husband. And the mother sucks her daughter into being her conspiratorial confidante. Finally, this daughter has her mother's undivided attention? Or really does she. The mother just seems to use the daughter when it most seems necessary; only for the mother's sake. I just love this story and how we all can be very vulnerable to the people we love and who we think, love us back. The daughter thank goodness comes to realize the reality of the dysfunctional relationship between her and her mother. And how it affected the daughter to be able to have a functional relationship with men.
