I loved the cover of this book, and I did like the writing style. I'm ususlly not a huge fan of nonfiction, but this was a pick for a book membership I am part of, so I decided to give it a shot. As a memoir, it was written like a story and definitely drew me in.

However I found myself getting frustrated with the subject. I understood the charm and charisma of the mother from her daughter's point if view, but I hated how narcissistic and generally terrible her mother and lover were. I kind of just wanted to yell at Adrienne to just cut then out and focus on her own life. I was hoping there would be a bit more of an "aha!" moment for Adrienne, where she realized how wrong all of this was.

I feel that going forward I likely won't remember this. It was fine to read in the moment, but not memorable for me.
