Rennie is a 14 year old girl, woken by her mother in the middle of the night who tells her that her husband’s best friend has just kissed her - and she seems buoyed with excitement. After this point, Adrienne’s relationship with her mother is forever altered; this inclusion has chartered a path in Adrienne’s life that she will follow for years. In this twisting tale, Adrienne grows up dealing with the secrets her mother holds closely, and tries to figure out how to navigate her own life, as intertwined as it may be with her mother’s. This definitely isn’t the typical book I would pick up, but it’s good to get outside your comfort zone a little and read something new. This book allows you to live someone else’s life (as they saw it).
