Reading Wild Game revealed exceptional writing with descriptions of places and foods and events that made it easy to feel present in yourself. As you read, you can taste and be envious of meals prepared and wines paired. She easily transitions from immaculate details of her life to the tumultuous details of her mother's affair and her involvement. I appreciated how the author was able to explore her own depression and the difficulty in naming her mother as a part of it. While the writing is exceptional it is one that is triggering...how affairs tear apart families, hurt people and the damage we do to children.

Yet, the topic of her mother's inflicted trauma and other adults being complicit is hard to digest. Would love to read future writings by Brodeur.
