Finding strength after a complicated past

This is the memoir of Adrienne, which focuses primarily on a strange and damaging relationship with her mother. Adrienne tells the story of growing up with a mother who blurred the lines of parent and close friend/confidante. She confides inappropriate secrets, such as infidelity, with her then teenage daughter, who is not yet mature enough to process such confessions. The memoir is well-written and sad but interesting as we see how her mother's choices go on to affect Adrienne, well into adulthood, when she finally realizes her own strength and endurance. The various people in Adrienne's life are all interesting in their own way, each playing a part in Adrienne's own development.
