In one night of new discoveries Rennie’s life changes forever.
It’s 1980 and Rennie is a typical 14 year old teenager enjoying her summer on Cape Cod. She’s been dating Ted, the boy next door and the two of them have been sneaking out at night to make out. It’s a summer of new discoveries for Rennie. Unfortunately, everything changes in one night when Rennie’s mother wakes her up to tell her that she’s been kissed by her husband’s best friend. That night Rennie’s summer changes from one of self discovery to one of keeping secrets.
I really enjoyed the authors descriptive writing style, especially with Malabar’s personality, presence and creative cooking. I thought the story was interesting and it definitely held my attention. Despite the wonderful writing I really don’t like the premise of the story. I don’t think I would enjoy reading this book.
