Solid Read
LaPlante is a well-known British author who's work is less well known on the US side of the Atlantic, so I was pumped to give this a read and excited that she is finally getting some well-deserved US attention.
I LOVED so much of the this book, the large number of female characters, the intrigue, the idea of widows taking over a job their husbands had failed at, and attempting to make the best of a bad situation.
I will say that I did feel as though I had seen/read this story before so that was a bit disappointing (although as I said, LaPlante has been around for a while, so that could very easily be why).
PS. There's going to be a movie as well and I can honestly say that I am THRILLED for that as well.
