In the first few chapters of Widows we are briefly introduced to 3 women: Dolly Rawlins, Linda Pirelli, and Shirley Miller. Of the three, we learn the most about Dolly, a woman from the lesser side of town who married up and married for love. Her husband, Harry, runs his father's antiques business, as well as the family's other business: robbery. While it's unclear how much Dolly knew, we are left with the impression that she knew her husband was up to some nefarious dealings, and when Harry's body turns up in a burned out vehicle along with 2 others following an armed robbery attempt, she is left dealing with the fallout. On the other hand, Linda and Shirley seem less accustomed to being the spouse in a crime lifestyle. Both seem stunned and heartbroken, although we don't spend much time with either of them. We are made to believe that Linda's husband, Joseph, had recently been unfaithful, while Shirle and her husband, Terry, may have been having money problems.

This mystery has a lot of interesting elements that could make for a compelling story. What does crime do to relationships?
