This book was hard to get through; I felt like none of the characters were likeable, I felt like the plot flopped from one point to another without really knowing what the end result was going to be. I couldn't always follow what the author was trying to tell the reader, and some of the new characters in the book had very little background, so some interactions between them and other characters fell short to me. The manner of the characters was odd as well, which surprised me because I have read several novels set in England. I do wonder if I would have thought differently had I read the first book, but since it was so difficult to get through, I'm not sure that would have made much of a difference. I was disappointed because the author seems like such a wide known and famous person, but I didn't feel like the book lived up to the hype.
