Fell Flat

I hadn't read Widows but I didn't feel like I needed to in order to catch onto the plot.

The girls are in Rio getting everything together before they go their separate ways. But Harry is fast on their heels. It seems no matter where they go in the world, Harry is there. Harry is a good bad guy, his wife has cleaned him out and he treats the people around him exactly as you would picture him to. I think La Plante did his character very well.

I didn't love the 4 women as I prefer strong female characters, their constant bickering and insecurities were tedious. Even though I saw them as weak, they had to have some degree of strength to pull off everything they did. They were at each other's throats a lot, which I imagine does happen when you've pulled off a big heist and you're on the run.

The author sometimes told tidbits of Trudie's sister's story, but her sister Vera wasn't part of the main plot and I don't feel it was relevant to the storyline or helped to move it forward. I had high hopes for Widow's Revenge but it just fell flat for me.
