I devoured this book, I had to. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Knowing there was a movie coming out just pushed me further and here are my opinions.

Lynda La Plante has such an amazing writing style, she can tell a story very well and with just the right amount of character development. The first book I read by her was Tennison, which is oddly enough the 'prequel' of sorts to this novel. The widows in this book loose their husbands in an accident in Tennison. When I realized this was a novel about the widow Dolly Rawlins, I just knew I had to snag it up. Boy, I was not disappointed.

The women are such strong characters and they step up to fill the role that their husbands left. I did not see something like this coming based on Tennison, but without giving too much away - it was well worth it to go this path with these characters. If you are looking for an adventure with strong female leads, pick this book up. Loved it!
