For me, I need more contemporary fantasy in my life. I don't know why historic or alternate settings aren't cutting it for me anymore, but this struck me more in the line of what I NEED to read. I'm so glad there is the chance to finally read more books that provide different perspectives from different cultures throughout the world because here I am reading this book feeling as if I am lost in Korea as I continue to learn more about their folklore. For me, a modern setting is more engaging because there is little that I know about Korea. This provides me the chance to delve deep into this world with Miyoung and everyone to simply explore and feel alive in a magical setting. One that then I can back track and find nonfiction books to learn more about modern and Korea in the past (with a lot less magic considering its real life).
