This is the first modern day Seoul fantasy romance book that I have read and I enjoyed it very much. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyes reading fantasy. I was especially fascinated by the mythology of the Gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. I had never heard of the Gumiho and did not know anything about that mythology, this was a fun and exciting way to learn more about it.
The main female character, Miyoung is both strong and vulnerable which was a refreshing change. In my opinion being able to show her strength and weaknesses made her much more relatable. The romance aspect was built at a nice pace and wasn’t instant, it starts out as a beautiful friendship and develops into much more through share experiences.
Again I would recommend this to anyone who enjoyes fantasy, romance, and learning more about other mythologies. It is also great to see other authors and cultures being represented in literature.
