Kat Cho's Wicked Fox is a YA urban fantasy set in Seoul, Korea. It was a great quick and light reading that was really necessary to follow the slog that was "Red Rising." It was a good cleanser for the palate.

We follow Jihoon, a high school undergraduate, who lives with Halmeoni (Korean for grandmother) and works at her restaurant. Jihoon is very much liked, charming and charasmatic, but he doesn't let many people in.

After a girl has been attacked by a dokkaebi, his life takes turn when he saves his life in the jungle. Miyoung, a gum or a nine-tailed Fox is the girl who saves it. The legends are true soon Jihoon learns. Miyoung knows that she doesn't know things about gumiho.

In Jihoon's other friends over time I liked to see the growth of Jihoon and Miyoung as well as how the relationship developed. The pick into Korean culture and language was also greatly appreciated (thanks at the end of the book for the glossaries!

Each chapter changes the storey of the gumiho origin between Jihoon and Miyoung's pov. Other cultures I love to read mythology!

It can teach you so much about a community and how they relate to stories. The great thing about this book is, you don't have to read the second book, as it started, unless you want. Cho did a wonderful job of finishing the storey in a clean and unforced way.
