I loved this book so much!! This was amazing Korean romantic fantasy with some pretty awesome twists and turns. Just like your typical K-dramas, the romance was soft and sweet and exactly right for YA lit. I was surprised to find myself falling for Jihoon at the same time as Miyoung, he was so endearing. And Miyoung is my girl, so powerful but also trying to hard to just be above herself and her nature, making her so brave and strong, it was too much for my wee heart. These two made this book shine!
The world was also really well built. It seamlessly blended contemporary YA problems with school and bullies, loneliness and fitting in, with epic fantasy monsters of legend. I feel like this would have totally been the next big hit anime if it had been made for TV. I could really feel that Cho's Seoul could be the real deal, modern and lifelike, while the woods were filled with these mythological creatures. In fact, if I ever visit, I swear I will glare knowingly at any forest, just in case.
And then that ending! UGH! MY HEART! But then the EPILOGUE??? You are KILLING ME Kat Cho!!!
