I loved the beginning of this novel, particularly Miyoung and her backstory. As a character, she was super engaging and sympathetic, and I loved the way Kat Cho grounded the novel in Korean mythology without doing a massive amount of hand-holding for readers who might not be as familiar with everything. However, I wasn't as big a fan of the male lead, and I thought the novel dragged significantly once its focus shifted to their romance and the high school hijinks that made the book feel more like a more archetypal YA contemporary than a supernatural novel. It was still a fun ride, for the most part, but it wasn't the immersive, fantastical experience I'd been hoping for by the end. I will say, the cover is absolutely gorgeous, and I think for the most part this book will appeal to its core audience. I'm just not in that core, I guess, which is fair enough.
