I was drawn to this book based on the native main character and the zoo, circus like, performance. I liked Two Feathers as a character. It was really interesting to read about her life in Oklahoma. I've lived in Oklahoma most my life so I was familiar with the areas and tribes mentioned. I thought the zoo setting was really unique and seeing all the animals and how much Two Feathers loved them was great. I enjoyed getting to see her performance preparations and all that could go wrong and how she handled everything. While I liked the friendships she had with her coworkers I never really felt a great bond there. I wish the story had focused on just a couple perspectives instead of the many it did. I often found myself skimming some characters chapters because I wasn't interested. The magical realism element was a nice touch. I love when Historical fiction adds in a dash of magic. Overall I liked the setting and the main character but the story was very slow paced with too many povs for my liking.
