The first thing that drew me to this book was the fact that it's about Two Feathers who is a horse diver. I loved Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken when I was young, so I thought it would be fun to read a book about a horse diver! What I didn't know is that the book would be full of history, racism, love, friendships and ghosts! The story takes place in the 1920's at the Glendale Park Zoo. There are different acts, musical performances, animals, everything you could imagine. The worst thing happens during Two's performance and everything changes. There is murdering of animals, digging up graves and stalking. There is a huge cast of characters. From the rich owners, the Shacklefords, to the British zoo manager, Clive. There is Crawford who is Black but from a prominent family and Two, who is a Cherokee native. Margaret Verble does a great job showing you the friendships between all of these people and yet showing the racism also. It's a great book that easily sucks you in.
