You had me at "horse diver"....I remember watching a movie about a young girl who was a horse diver (starring a very young Gabrielle Anwar), and was fascinated by this topic, and this historical period. I'd love to read a book about a horse diver, and learn more details of how on earth this ever got to be "a thing".
