This book was written well in my opinion. Based on the authors own experiences in Iraq at the time I felt like I was experiencing this area as I was reading, almost like a movie playing in my head.
I couldn’t imagine living a life like that and as I was reading it came to life I felt their fears. I really was transported. A story of 3 women and how they end up all connected and how each one of them is carrying a different secret. Which doesn’t sound like it can possibly end well for them.
Huda is forced to be a informant, spying on ally.
And Raina her former best friend is just trying to keep her and her daughter going after all the family money is gone.
I really felt for the two best friends that lost so many years in their friendship. And ally the diplomats wife who is hoping to just maybe find answers about her moms time there so many years ago. Following along on all the ladies I couldn’t put this book down. I was angry, and sad and hopeful all at the same time. So many emotions. What a great read
