This book reminds me a little of some of Ruta Sepety’s books, which is a high compliment. If it were still an option, I would claim this book in a heartbeat.
I love seeing into a different country and what things are like, especial under a government like a dictatorship. I always get really involved with the characters and it’s moving to see how they stay strong though difficult circumstances. This book is no different. I’m also really excited for the fact that this book follows three different women. It’s always nice to see a strong female protagonist.
So far, I love the style of writing. The author is unique in the way that she described things. Like instead of saying that a character looked up to the sky she says, “consulted the cloudless sky.” The writing is easy to comprehend and is nicely detailed.
