I first became aware of Iran with the hostage situation in 1979. As an adult, I have been friends with a family who fled Iran during the same time period. I also know people who fought in the Gulf War. Despite all these "encounters" with Iran, I know little about the people of Iran and how they live today. I'd love to read a book that takes the reader behind the veil of the Middle East into the culture of a country that is often called our enemy but is full of people with the same hopes and dreams of people everywhere.
