This book was just what I needed. Although it deals with some heavy topics, this book packs a punch in the feels department. As a dog lover (two dogs, one cat) I'm sure this book will resonate with people who like a good memoir, and just want some hope and love in their lives. This is not just a dog story; it's a story of two women who find each other during the most depressing times in their lives.
I laughed, and I cried throughout this novel, and that doesn't happen very often. It balanced the emotional scenes with those of joy and pure smiles. I felt like the Grinch reading this book in that my heart seemed to grow ten times its size, especially during the email scenes of the book. I would have loved a snapshot of the "after" but maybe I can do my own research and see where the women are today, and how the pooches are doing.
A truly emotional read, I give it 5 stars.
