What the f*ck did I just read??
Definitely the strangest book I've ever read. That cover had me. That synopsis sounded promising. However, the story was pretty much nothing like I thought it was going to be. There was no plot. No driving storyline. No character depth or backstory, just a couple info dumps that still just made things weirder. If it wasn't for the vivid writing this would have been a 2. I was confused almost the whole time and didn't know why anything was happening.
I had to stop at one point and remember how everyone was related. I also dozed off a couple times when I first started reading. (The chapters are really long!!)
Nothing makes sense and there's no rhyme or reason. There's just a few side stories, so to say, where you're trying to figure out what's up and what is going on and why. Ellie was also exasperating. She was gone from her family for 8 years, but kept making all these brash, hasty decisions that had horrible consequences for everyone.
