Personally, I would give this book a 2.5 but as this is a debut novel and outside my typical genre, I rounded up.
This book started off so strong. I thought that maybe I could get into this genre a bit more because of how much my first impression peeked my interest!
However, it quickly turned into a plot that I personally found rather challenging to follow. It could be this genre just isn’t for me because I felt very disconnected from this book. I kept getting lost and losing track of what I was reading. Another reviewer mentioned the long chapters and maybe that played a part in how difficult it was for me to read this.
With all that being said, the writing is beautiful, the cover is capitulating and intriguing for a YA novel, and I’m sure this book is great for the target audience. For this being a debut novel, I was really, really impressed with the writing itself.
