when I first started reading, I wasn’t totally sure I was going to like it. the writing style was a little different than what I normally prefer. This is one of the strangest books I've ever seen. I was initially drew in by the cover and It was the reason why I picked up the book. I found it to be very gruesome and horrid, as well as being confusing. This book has a very beautiful extensive magic system, weird family dynamic, and a weird and unique family dynamic. The main character, Eleanor comes home from boarding school after eight years to her crazy family. At certain points in the book I got really fed up with Eleanor. The book was really slow paced and I got irritated with Eleanor for being so clueless, sometimes by choice and sometimes by manipulation from spells. This book was super interesting and the cover was absolutely beautiful.
