Little on the vague side

I was more than excited to get this book, I had really enjoyed the first impression. I started to read it, and for some reason it did not hold me or pull me in as well as I would have liked. Some scenes in the book seemed extremely vague or rushed. I say vague to the point that It seemed as though I should know what is going on, but I simply did not. That was early on in the book, I did enjoy the family and the stories being told of them, about them and the like. But I feel as though it was not completely there yet overall as a book. I still enjoyed the read, but I just simply do not know if it lived up to the first impression. I am still recommending it to my friends and family as a good different read. I just think it lacked in some areas that I was hoping it would have done a better job on. Still a book that I would like to maybe see more from and maybe a continuation such as a series. I think it needed more, it felt as though it was trying to be suspenseful but fell short of that for me.
