Despite the fact that I didn't exactly like this book, it would feel wrong to give it any less than four stars based purely on the fact that this is a debut and the writer weaves the story together quite perfectly, despite in my opinion, all of the reveals ending up being so absurd that I didn't find any of them to be satisfying.

There's no doubt that the writer is incredibly talented though, creating an incredibly vivid and dark atmosphere and dropping in just enough subtle clues per chapter to make the book impossible to put down. They have a real talent for creating intrigue, and I will definitely be reading anything else they release because I trust their reveals could get better.

I also just don't know that this book was written for readers like myself, the fantasy aspects being so far out there and unrelated to anything I could've ever guessed that it made it frustrating when things were revealed and I realized all my speculation wouldn't have gotten me anywhere near the conclusions anyway. That being said, it was enthralling and a promising debut.
