i gravitated towards this books right off the bat because of the beautiful cover art. they say “never judge a book by its cover” but i’m a sucker for a pretty one.
when i first started reading, i wasn’t totally sure i was going to like it. the writing style was a little different than what i prefer. i like books that use conjugation like “i’m” instead of “i am” or “can’t” instead of “cannot.” it just sounds too proper in my head for a contemporary novel about a teenage werewolf so that threw me off. it’s also quite slow which made it difficult for me to stay into it. i prefer fast paced books that hold my attention.
saying that, the plot was good, even though a bit odd. the characters were fun once you got to know them a little bit. the beginning is kind of confused & i had a hard time understanding where the story was going but once it started to click, it was much more enjoyable of a read! i love the mix of fantasy & horror! i’m somewhat new to reading fantasy so this was another fun one to get into the genre!
