Eleanor hasn’t seen her family for years—not since her grandmother shipped her off to boarding school. She can’t remember exactly why she had to leave or why she can’t return, but she knows it wasn’t good. After a disturbing incident, Eleanor flees school and finds herself running back home despite her grandmother's warnings.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book quite like this before. The novel begins sort of like a little red riding hood retelling in which Granny actually keeps the wolves in check. Except the wolves are werewolves. However, the story quickly becomes much more complicated and twisty.

I guess if I had to classify it, I’d call this book gothic lit. Much of the story is tied to a mysterious house that may or may not be haunted, but definitely has werewolves (and other not-quite-normal people). Also like a gothic novel, nothing is what it seems.
