I tried to get into this book, however at 100 pages I ended up putting it down. The premise of this story was so well done and had so much potential. I love anything compared to the Addams Family, a family that does things not quite the way the rest of the world does and is proud of it. That is what I was looking for, the sense of family associated with the beloved family.
That is not what I got.
The family in this story is not a family I wanted to get to know. They were cruel to each other for no discernible reason and they did not support each other at all. Honestly, I struggled to find one redeeming characteristic about any of these characters and just could not do it.
Add to this the fact that after 100 pages I still had no idea what was happening.
I know that this was a debut novel, but the way it was written was just not for me. This could be a favorite for someone else, but I simply did not vibe with it at all.
