This read was a strange experience for me. I struggled through the first five chapters (1/3rd of the book) then flew through the remainder after setting it down for a couple days. Because of this, I will break up my thoughts into 2 segments. I thought the first part of this book was incredibly confusing and strange. I had a hard track keeping up with characters and their relationships. I thought their characterization was really poor and underdeveloped. A lot of mystery elements were introduced, but I struggled to care. I didn’t understand why characters were treating the main character so poorly. In the last 2/3rds of this book, I did get resolution to some of my complaints. The mystery/plot got incredibly compelling and I liked all of the kinks and weirdness. The characters, while still underdeveloped, did perform actions that made sense with their characterization and I enjoyed reading about all of the weird relationships between them. The atmosphere was so so spooky and strange throughout the whole thing - that was my favourite part. All in all, I did enjoy this read. I do think the first part could have done better developing the characters to allow the reader to be drawn into the story more easily, but it was still a great time.
