I like the amount of mystery that surrounds this excerpt. There’s a layer of unknown danger and the author, Rose Szabo, hasn’t quite let us in on those secrets, but leaves these crumbs for the reader to follow. To top it off, Eleanor is getting to know her family after her extended time away, which is perhaps the greatest riddle of all.
