Life choices. How can a child have to make such life choices? Choices not only for himself but for his younger brother. Choices that could, and probably will change everything. I can’t imagine the choices Jack has to make. Life or death possibly.
I am enthralled by this book even though my heart breaks as I read it. I just can’t imagine that this is their life and these are the only choices to make. Why? Why is life so cruel for some?
The writing drew me in immediately. It is atmospheric and emotional. Jack and Matty stole my heart from those first words and now they are running away with it, quickly. So fast I may never recover. Especially if I don’t finish this book.
I imagine this to be a difficult read on so many levels but I also imagine it will be a worthwhile read. And the writing, it should be explored, experienced and examined and even dismantled and devoured.
