I’ve never lived in poverty but my family has definitely struggled to make ends meets so I can for sure empathize with Jack’s character. It may be the wrong choice—the illegal choice— to pick the money but my brother would be worth so much more than what the law could ever do to me.
If I were Ava, I think that the decision she’s faced with would be even tougher—betray your Dad and do what is right to help save two innocent strangers ? That’s one predicament I would hope that I’d never be put it.
This book’s synopsis sounds fantastic and gut-wrenching. I think it will also be fast-paced and edge of your seat thrilling.
I must admit that I’m a little confused by the title and cover and how they relate to the plot, but I guess that’s why you read the book and find out!
Also blurbed by one of my favorite authors, Ruta Sepetys and compared to Patrick Ness and Nina Lacour. It doesn’t get much better than that. This book for sure HAS to be a slam dunk.
