Atmospheric mystery

I was drawn to What Beauty There Is by the gorgeous coverage, atmospheric and sentry-loaded prose and gorgeous illustrations. I had a hard time getting a grasp of where the story was headed in the initial chapters, and whether I was in for the ride.
